Shy individuals exist all over, and typically they’re misunderstood by those who do not feel shy. However like everybody people, they posses the same desire to know and be understood. The only difference is that they often lack the confidence and skills of being friendly. Here is a list of things you can do to try to bond with an extremely shy person.
1. Approach the shy person alone. Have the courage to connect on them on your own. Bringing your buddies along might be too much of a public opinion on their part and might make the shy individual feel uneasy or ashamed.
2. Talk in a courteous and gentle manner. This can be efficient, particularly when you are around people.Talking too loudly and too roughly can make them feel uneasy.
3. Select a subject that you think you can both connect to. If you know that a few of their interests or problems are similar to yours, open a conversation about those specific problems. Do not anticipate them to immediately add to the discussion and do not ask too much. Shy individuals might feel unpleasant when they are asked a lot of questions, especially with respect to individual matters. Once they find a resemblance between the 2 of you, they will feel comfortable in sharing their ideas and interests with you.
4. Never ever demand an abrupt reaction. Be delicate to their feelings. If you believe they do not wish to respond to a question, change the subject to a more comfortable one.
5. Pay attention to everything that they state and offer honest feedback. They are more likely to notice your sincerity and would most likely get upset if they feel that you are not actually interested.
6. Pick your words carefully. Prevent breaking personal jokes and declarations that may make them feel dumb or ugly. This can be insulting for them even if you do not really mean it that way.
7. Keep your first discussions short. Shy people are usually mindful about choosing people to socialize with. Give them time to adjust and wait until they are comfortable enough prior to you include a little bit more length to your conversations as you attempt to learn more about each other more deeply.
8. Do not make the shy person feel out of place. If in the middle of your discussion, a good friend of yours passes by and states “hi”, greet back and present the shy individual to your friend. Do not start another discussion with that pal in front of the shy person. If you need to speak about things to other people, ask them to speak about it in another time.
9. Do not try to pressure the shy individual to attend celebrations. A celebration with a lot of people is not a location for a shy individual. So, unless you want to sit in a corner with them, it might not be a great idea to send them the invite.
10. Aim to interact through text or chat. If you believe they be reluctant about engaging in a face-to-face talk, attempt another approach. Inquire if it is all right to obtain their number or social networks ID, so that you can talk when you 2 don’t see each other. A shy individual might prefer text or immediate messaging to reveal their ideas.
11. Keep their secrets private. It is much better not to state anything to other individuals about exactly what the shy person has actually shared with you. Doing so will make them lose trust in you and will erode their confidence in you. Such responses will cost you your friendship.
